starting it with logging to syslog 

udhcpd -S

tail -f /var/log/syslog 

Sep 21 09:32:36 messer nss_wins[22313]: Sending OFFER of 192.168.167.19
Sep 21 09:32:36 messer nss_wins[22313]: Sending ACK to 192.168.167.19

those messages are not verbose enough for my liking. no mac recorded
